Getting Back Together!

Hi readers, as you know we have had two gigs so far, the second of which was the Cherrywood Art Festival. When we were practicing for this show many of us got really stressed out and frusturated with one another. We decided that we would take a break from practicing, but this break has been going on for a while, and we've all decided that we'll be starting practices again soon, for the SXSW gig! We might put up some videos of us playing a song, but that might be for a while, we'll still be posting interesting stuff here!
Please follow or comment on this blog, we'd really like your feedback!

Erin!

Hi readers, Rory said that we would all be doing like, autobiographies, so I thought, hmm, why not? Heres's mine! Hope you enjoy!
I have been living in the exact same house my entire life. We hold our band practices at my house, in my dad's back office, he's really great to let us use his office, and I'm really glad he's doing it for the band. I play drums, as you know, and I love to play them! Sometimes it's just great to... well, hit things that make a lot of noise.... with sticks... I started becoming interested in the drums at around 3rd grade, but I wasn't able to play them until the summer after 5th. I learned to play them at GRC, and at first, I wasn't exactly the best, but when my family bought me a new drum set, I started practicing on it, and I got better! I currently don't have any current drum lessons, because I basically just make up beats of my own and practice them.
I've had a few more experiences in music, I took piano for a few years, but then I decided it wasn't right for me, it frusturated me a lot. This year, I'm taking the stand-up bass in orchestra, and I also love that too! I'm hoping to get private drum lessons some time soon, so that I can improve, but for now I'll just have to improvise..
Thanks for reading guys! Follow or join this blog, keep reading soon! (I'm hoping we will be publishing frequently)

SXSW!

Hey guys! Remember in our last post the fact that we formed because of Girls Rock Camp Austin? You probably should! Well, GRC has offered us a gig at SXSW, at the Cherrywood Coffeehouse! It will be over the spring break, our first show of 2013! (If we don't get another one between then and now) We will be getting more information on our show later, so stay tuned!

A Little History Lesson

Hey readers, some of you may be wondering how we formed the band. All five of us have been great friends for like, ever. Our guitarist has been playing guitar for a few years now, our lead singer takes lessons, our keyboardist takes lessons too, the bassist takes lessons from her dad, who was in a few bands, and the drummer took lessons at a rock camps, and that set her off.
All of us took a camp over the summer, called Girls Rock Camp Austin. They formed a band called Different Dimension.  A few months later, we all decided to join up again and play some music for fun. When we were offered our first gig, we loved it, and we decided we would continue, and seriously take it on. Now we have regular practices, and we have so much fun! We are expecting more gigs soon, possibly a battle of the bands. (More info on that later)

Welcome! ;)

Hey readers, we are a band named Skewered by Elephants. We are a local Austin band, and we've played a few gigs so far. Our instruments and musicians consist of our awesome guitarist, a rockin' bassist, a talented singer, a great keyboardist, and an energetic drummer.
The first of which was at the Rockin' Tomato. It was a lot of fun! All of our friends and family were there to support us, and we loved playing there.
Our second show was at the Cherrywood Art Fair. The Cherrywood Art fair is a local festival where artists, musicians, chefs, etc come to share their talents and trade with everyone. We got to play at the outside stage, and again, we were supported by so many friends and family members. The show was great, and the crowd was yelling for an encore! It was so much fun!
This blog will keep you updated on our latest gigs, and newest songs, and possibly you can buy a band t-shirt! We hope you continue to read our blog, follow it, and listen to some great music.
